Swiggy triggers the group command so that multiple users can create the same basket

This feature already exists in all SWIGGY users, but ZOMATO has a wider user base.

Swiggy Food Delivery Company introduced an order group from a group. This allows up to 40 people to order at the same time and add different items to one basket. Until now, if a group of customers, placing an order together, wanted to add their choice of dishes, they had to do so on a single device. Now, Swiggy users can share a QR code or a link that will allow them to create the same cart at the same time. The company said the feature has been introduced to address the "party issue."The feature will also help Swiggy improve its average order value (AOV), a key operational metric tracked to measure performance. This is vital for Swiggy as the food delivery company prepares to go public later this year.

“Group orders on Swiggy went live a few days ago and we saw that 6 percent of all orders in the first weekend of the release were made through this feature… The average order value through group order was 3.7X of our normal orders,” Swiggy said in a post on LinkedIn. The feature is already rolling out to users, with screenshots of the new release doing the rounds on social media.

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal announced exciting new features aimed at improving the dining experience for users. Announced in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Goyal revealed that Zomato's group ordering feature is now live. 

The new function allows users to exchange a link with friends, allowing everyone to gently add elements to the basket. This update will simplify the order process, eliminating the need to place the phone and make group orders faster and more practical.
