Former director of Kolkata hospital where doctor was raped and killed, arrested

Amid widespread protests over the rape and murder of a young doctor, former vice-director of RG Khar Hospital Akhtar Ali has appealed in the High Court, seeking an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate General into the alleged financial fraud committed by Sandeep Ghosh.

Kolkata: Sandeep Ghosh, former director of the Calcutta hospital where a doctor was raped and murdered last month, has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after two weeks of questioning. The arrest was made in connection with allegations of financial irregularities during his tenure, which are being investigated by the central agency, as well as a rape and murder case. Three others were arrested along with Sandeep Ghose. According to sources, Biplav Singh and Suman Hazara supply medicines to the hospital, and Afsar Ali is a security guard.

The role of Sandeep Ghose, principal of RG Kar Medical College, where the female doctor's body was found on the morning of August 9, has been questioned by many. Even in the Supreme Court, he asked why he did not submit the first information report.

A few hours after the resignation from public opinion, the transfer to another hospital caused a second shock, where the role of the state government has also raised the role. The strong government, Calcutta, suggested that Sandip Gosh had a long vacation instead of finding a job.

The CBI, which took a rape case after a prescription in front of the Calcutta High Court, began to question Sandipa Gosha on August 16th. Each session lasted 10 to 14 hours.
